D2 LEAGUE 2016
TOURNAMENT RULES
1. A TLHs nonprofit tennis league that will use 100% of the player fees to fund end of season Championship awards. All revenues will be used to achieve our purpose, the prizes.
2. Why D2 ~ the number two is simple and obvious, there will be two players on each team. The “D”, similar to the letter “T” in the “other” league name, stands for DIPSOMANIAC. The intent of this league is to provide an individual an opportunity to drink, socialize and play a little tennis.
3. Mission Statement ~ The purpose and objective of TLH D2 Tennis League is to provide a semi-structured tennis drinking league for all to enjoy a beverage of choice with fellow contestants while participating in sport, fellowship and commodore. Although winning is encouraged and desired by all and yes, there will be a Champion hailed by all, the most important activity is to drink, be merry and promote the spirit of good sportsmanship
4. Team Selection ~ two man teams will be determined through a blind draw. All players with a drinking problem will be placed on one side of the bracket with the remaining players with a worse drinking problem placed on the other side of the bracket and where the chips fall, they fall. Best of luck to all. If you do not like your partner, participate again next season. There will never be repeat Champions due to a mandatory reshuffle each season.
5. League Format ~ based on 24 players, we will have 12 teams, six in one division and six in the second division, five matches for all each season. The division will be determined by a blind draw. The top two teams in each division will participate in a playoff, first place in division one playing second place of division two and vice versa. Winning teams to play for Championship.
6. Schedule ~ will be decided through a blind draw. Please try to play your matches during each designated week. If unable to do so, try to make it up the match the following week. We will be very flexible.
7.Matches ~ will consist of three sets, one point for each set, total of three points available per match. Based on remaining bottles of beer in the cooler, the third set may settled as a Super Tie Breaker with the first team to win ten points with a two point advantage winning the set. However, playing a Super Tie Breaker must be mutually agreed upon by all four players. Team to select service to begin the match will be decided by “spin the bottle” Prior to the first sever, each players must have an open libation in hand with a minimum of three ounces consumed. Balls will be provided by the designated “Home” team, no replacement balls required by losing team… they lost, give them a break. Again, a total of three points is available each match, winner of each of the three sets.
8.Championship ~ the top two teams in each division will participate in a playoff, first place in division one playing second place of division two and vice versa.
